Larry Breaux - Customer Focus

"The videos are in my opinion the 2nd best thing about your site, right after the projects."

Thanks Larry, and we feel the best thing about our site is the inspiration we get from customer project submissions... just like yours!

"The material is some 1” oak I had leftover from previous projects. I operate an AXYZ 5012 at my place of employment along with Aspire 4.5, typically I play with personal projects after hours here and there."

"Most of the time my regular work is strictly 2d and I don’t get the opportunity to venture into 3d work too often.  I can make short work of most tasks with the software in my normal day to day work but the 3d stuff is a little more challenging and that’s why I decided to try one of your projects. You can’t get good at chess playing checkers all the time."

"The finish is Minwax Sedona Red that I had laying around. Future projects will receive Red Mahogany per my wife’s request. Then just 2 coats of some spray bomb clear satin from Home Depot. Total machine time was about 1.5 hours with the small fleur di lis in the corners. I used a .25” end mill for the roughing, a .125” tapered ball nose for the finishing pass, and a 60° V-bit for the lettering. Font used for lettering is Century."

Larry's layout is a hack using models from the Home for the Holidays No.2 and the Dish Shapes No.2 CNC project.  This is a great example how you can take one of our holiday themed projects and make something you can use every day of the year!

"Thanks again for all the work you put into making this so user friendly and accessible."

Thanks again Larry for sharing this project with us!

Dave Haskin - Customer Focus

Dave Haskin sent this in about 7 months ago... yikes... sorry Dave for not getting this up sooner!  He created this great layout as a wedding gift for his daughter.

Dave used the Wine Bar No.1 project to create his layout.

"I have had my Vectric VCarve Desktop software for about a month now and this was the first project that I ran. I will admit that I did run a test piece first, though."

Hard to believe he created this after only one month of using the software.  VCarve Desktop is the little brother to VCarve Pro and is just as capable with only a few things missing that VCarve Pro has to offer.  Perfect for the new CNC user that has a small format CNC or smaller budget.

"I used a 1/16” tapered ball nose bit and the overall diameter of the project was 10.5”, so it took quite a while to run. My machine is a small homemade machine running LinuxCNC software. It is a work in progress with most of it still made out of wooden parts."

The time paid off and the finish look great!

"There is no real secret to my finish technique. I used spray shellac to seal the wood, then used some acrylic craft paint to paint the text and finished it off with a satin varnish."

"I first saw a similar design done by Doug Pinney on the Think & Tinker website where I buy my tooling. I contacted Doug and he told me about Vectric software and the rest is history."

The community that has grown up around the Vectric software offering is amazing .  Great users, very willing to share helpful information among other users or offer advice to new CNC enthusiasts!

Update - December 7, 2015

Dave sent us in this picture of a wonderful looking centerpiece he made using our Home for the Holidays No.2 CNC project!  This is going to look so nice during his holiday meals and get togethers!

Thanks again Dave for sharing these projects with us!

Tony Duderewicz - Customer Focus

Tony sent this in just before the end of the 2015 school year.

"Graduation plaque I made out of red oak,
measuring about 10 inches. Took me 3 hrs to carve."
"I like all your projects. I use a CNC Shark extended bed from Rockler.
I use Aspire from Vectric."

Tony used the Graduation Day No.1 CNC project for his finished piece!

"I've been doing cnc woodworking for 4 yrs now and really enjoy it. Been a woodworker for 35 yrs."

Glad to see an old school woodworker add this sort of technology to his toolbox!

"I used a .25 end mill for rough carving and for cutting it out. I use a .125 ball nose bit for finishing and a 90 deg v bit for the lettering. I used a clear gloss finish on it about 3 coats."

The finish looks great and the grain of the wood really adds to the look!

"I get a lot of ideas from your website and also lot of ideas on facebook from other people."

We always love to hear where customers get their inspiration from.

Can't help but think how much Danae will appreciate the work that went into this keepsake.  Nice work Tony!

Thanks again Tony for sharing this project with us!
