Hack of the Week No.73

Halloween is in just a few weeks!  Before you know it the little ghouls and goblins will be knocking at your door.

This "Happy Boo-Day" sign was created using models from these CNC projects:

The font we used to simulate the v-carving on this layout is called: Candara, Kristen ITC

Note - This hack was assembled in Aspire V8 for presentation purposes.  It could have been done in VCarve Pro V8 or VCarve Desktop.

 

 

Weekend CNC Warrior, Don Harding, just sent in this finished painted Happy Pumpkin.  It measures 8" x 8" x 7.75" and machined in MDF.  Before it was painted it was sealed with Gesso so that the paint would not just soak in.

Looking pretty nice!!!

The Ocean Stirs the Heart and Inspires the Imagination

One Possible Layout

It took a bit longer than we thought but it has finally arrived... the 3rd instalment of our sea and ocean themed CNC projects.  This project should finish up the series very nicely, for now! All 3 of these projects needed to be developed at the same time to ensure they work together in some pretty unique ways.  With the addition of the new models in this project you can now create an even more detailed and interesting layout.

All 3 of the projects have been inspired by what you might see in the shallow pools of water you find while walking on the beach.  Things like sea urchins, clamshells, smooth rocks, wavy textures and driftwood give you a glimpse of what you might encounter on the seafloor.  Using the wavy tile ends and wavy texture, included in this project, you can create some interesting wall art, cottage signs, coffee tables and even a headboard that will surely keep you dreaming of the surf. The wavy tile can be tiled, end to end, to make a longer layout. Tucking models under its raised edge or under the raised bits of the driftwood you can add lots of depth to your finished project!
