Dave Nelson you are "Weekend CNC Warrior" Approved!

It is great to see our customers having fun with our mini-projects.  Dave Nelson is one of those users that seems to keep surprising us.  Dave shared 3 of his projects recently on Google+ and we were so excited when he said yes to us using them in this "Shop Notes" post.

" Tiki mask this is made out of compressed wood I painted with rust-oleum multi color textured light stone color 11"x6"x3/4  "

Dave took the time to make this short video of the machining process... 4 masks at one time!

The Tiki Bar sign in this image uses most of the models in the Tiki Bar No.1 mini-project.  Super job!

Dave has been busy making all sorts of projects using out mini-projects.  This next piece he made for his Dad uses the Wine Bar No.1 project out of MDF!

12"x12"x1"

"The Rough cut was 1hr with a 1/4 round over bit and the final pass was 3hr 45 min with a 1/16 round over bit I use Vectric Aspire 3.0 with Mach 3 on my KL 6090 CNC I used MDF for this. I finished the wine barrel first with Zinsser Gardz problem surface sealer then I varnished it."

Thanks Dave for sharing these with us.  If you want to see more of his work check out his G+ Stream or his website (lots of social network links here for you to follow his work)!

Jevon has done it again!

We love the suggestions that our customers submit to us.  Jevon Lewis was one of the first to ask us to create a Pick-Up League Football mini-project.

So we did!

"It was good to see a project that I had request end up being added to the CNCminiprojects and has come out exactly like I wanted it to."

"This was really a test piece so I did it in MDF also chose to use inlays versus v-carving the name and numbers just to add depth and make it easier to finish using different colors. Using inlays allowed me to spray the pieces separately instead of having to use masks. The jersey will sit inside a plaque (yet to be milled) that will be stained."

As you can see Jevon makes our projects look FANTASTIC!!!

Jevon is "WeekendCNCWarrior" Approved already seeing as he sent us images of his work using the Mothers Garden No.1 mini-project.  Click this link to see his other post!

Batten down the hatches!

If you are located near the coast, by a river or within sight of a lake you're sure to know how nice it is to launch your boat for an afternoon cruise.  Sailing, paddling or just floating your craft on a lazy day is as close to heaven as you can get.

Our second installment in the shipyard mini-project series adds some great models to create a plaque, sign or applique fitting for a great sailing vessel.  You might even consider combining it with the Shipyard No.1 mini-project to create a unique sign for a cabin, cottage or bed and breakfast.

There are the traditional models like a ship's wheel and skipjack but we also added in a whale's tail and a seagull to make things more interesting.

You'll notice another unique model that we think you will find very handy.  It looks like a chunk of ocean, sea, lake or maybe even a puddle.  All would be great uses for this water model.

Straight out of the dock house it was designed to fit below the whale's tail or under the skipjack to create some great movement in your final layout.

Thanks for reading!
