Customer Focus - Love Potion Bottle by Don Harding

One of our regular contributors of finished projects, Don Harding, came up with this very simple project that we thought should be shared seeing as Valentine's Day is just a week away!

This is such a great use of the wine bottle that comes with the Wine Bar No.1 project.  Don took the model, squished it then pulled it to make this great little bottle that could certainly hold a special love potion.

Change up the V-Carving and this could also be used at Halloween to hold your spooky potion or as a placecard holder at a wedding.  Lots of options and ideas!

This got us to thinking.

"Maybe we should create a short and quick video to show you how we think he did it."

Check it out!

If you are looking for a special project for Valentine's Day, wedding or anniversary we have one that just might be what you are looking for.

Hack of the Week No.82

"Joy to the World
the WINE is here!"

Tis the season to entertain so we thought it would be nice to create a layout that would work for a wine bottle coaster.  Using the plate from the Thanksgiving No.1 project we sized it so that the center recesses diameter was just over 3" (aprox. average wine bottle base is or what a quick Google search suggests it is).  Then we made the shape height of the model .35" to make the recess deep enough to set the bottle in.

The Christmas tree vectors that we used to simulate the VCarving (and were designed to be VCarved using your Vectric software) were free and downloaded from this year's Vectric Christmas Advent Calendar.

There are plenty more to be had this December so you should keep that link around and check back every day till Christmas.

This wine bottle coaster layout was created using models from these CNC projects:

The font we used to simulate the v-carving on this layout is called: Palatino Linotype

Cartouches and flourishes for your next project!

Possible Layout

The cartouche in this project would be the perfect place to start if you were looking to add an interesting bit of design to a headboard, piece of furniture, elegant looking house number plaque or as a powerful starting point to build a coat of arms around. Not to mention that the 2 shields in this project, with a bit of added VCarving, would make for a nice memorial plaque or monogrammed accent to the top of a keepsake box. The individual elements can also easily be repeated and overlapped to create decoration for carved molding or frames.
