Our first Medical Professional themed CNC project is here!

Caduceus - One Possible Layout

Rod of Asclepius - Another possible layout

If you are looking for medical help one of the first symbols you look for is made up of two intertwined snakes wrapping around a staff with a set of wings.  This is know as a "caduceus" and has been mistakenly adopted as the universal symbol for a medical professional.

Historically speaking, the "Rod of Asclepius" should have been the layout.  With it's one snake wrapped around a staff it should be more prominently "associated with healing and medicine" and is in some cases.

In order to keep everyone happy we have included all of the parts to make either symbol in one project. They are not limited to that, so have fun hacking the models together with ones in other projects or models in your library.

William Johnson - D&M Customer Focus

We love to see a great Design and Make CNC Project hack in our inbox!  William, from Wolf Creek Custom Wood, sure has created a great looking hack and final finished piece.

Raw part off of the CNC

"The finished size was 12" wide X 18" tall X 4/4 Poplar lumber."

"This is it, Maple, with Golden Oak stain and one spraying of clear gloss.
Doesn't look to bad, if I don't say so myself."

Finished!

William used models from the Graduation Day No.1 CNC project to create this hack.  Also he has added in the fireman's maltese cross from his own clipart library!  Nice layout indeed!

William has made his own CNC from scratch!!!  He has a video on his Facebook page if you are interested in seeing in action! (link above)

Thank you William for sharing this project with us!

Hack of the Week No.39

The great thing about our projects is that you can mix and match the models or add in your own.

Every community, village or city has local heroes looking over their families all night long!

The "Sleepless Knights!" plaque was created using models from these projects:

The font we used to simulate the v-carving on the plate is called:

  • Andalus

They keep us safe while we are awake or sleeping and are there when we need them!
